Celebrating 2 years of B Corp Certification!
We are proud to be celebrating two years of B Corp Certification! It took us almost two years to achieve the certification, so it feels extra special to be celebrating this milestone.
Over the last two years, we have been on an exciting journey of growth as a business with a lot of new faces joining our team, so let’s go through our people and planet focused highlights:
Announcing our plans to become an Employee Owned Trust (EOT) in 2027
Making progress on our AECB development of 39 homes, Easthorpe Green
Completing our Collingham Brook development, a brilliant extension to Collingham village with community is at its core
Working alongside Newark & Sherwood District Council to deliver high-quality social housing locally
Winning the regional LABC award for Best Small Social Housing Development for our Newark and Sherwood District Council site in Blidworth
Continuing our Gusto Community Fund donations, with our total now at £140,000 donated to 116 local community good causes
Match funding our employees’ fundraising activities from Movember, to hiking across the Pyrenees and mental health fundraisers
Taking our leadership and site management teams through Climate Fresk and Construction Collage sustainability training
Creating our Sustainability team with employees from both Gusto Construction and Studio G to bring together ideas from design, site and operations
Even greater focus on our people and their development, with Sarah now onboard as our Learning and Development Administrator
Bringing our subcontractors together to share our growth plans and vision with them back in November 24
Regular socials for our teams, with our annual Gusto Fest celebration being a summer highlight
Engaging and sharing knowledge with students and lecturers from local colleges
…we should be proud of that!
Sustainability has always been at the core of our business, with our first development in the late 90s, Millennium Green, being inspired by the Rio Earth Summit. Millennium Green was built to three times building regulations at the time and incorporated rainwater harvesting, solar water heating systems and high-performance insulation. We are proud to that these values are still at the centre of Gusto Construction over 25 years later.
The B Corp process is lengthy and time consuming, which may be off-putting for some businesses, but we saw it as an opportunity to go through our business with a fine tooth comb and made the improvements that aligned with our mission and goals as a business. We’re excited to share how the business continues to evolve over the next two years!
