Careers in Construction: Meet Project Coordinator, Jasmine Craft

As Careers in Construction Month comes to an end, we wanted to highlight that careers in this industry aren’t always linear. Project Coordinator Jasmine Craft is a great example of that!

Jasmine joined us in January 2026 after spending over 5 years managing a range of projects across both the public and private sectors, including the £10.3M Build/ £15.4M project total Air and Space Institute in Newark!

Here is a look into how Jasmine began working in construction, her day-to-day role and career highlights.

What’s Careers in Construction Month?

Careers in Construction Month takes place every October to highlight the varied career opportunities within the industry. From the skilled trades on site, to finance and management within the office, this month aims to show people what is possible in the sector.

Jasmine’s Route into Construction

Jasmine didn’t start her career in construction. After leaving university with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education, she spent five years working with children and young people, first as a Primary School Teacher and then as Youth Manager at the Lincoln City Foundation.

Eventually, she decided it was time for a change and wanted to explore the construction industry. Her first move into the sector was as a Project Manager at Lincoln College, where she completed her APM Project Fundamentals qualification alongside becoming the Chair of Constructing Excellence Lincolnshire.

To continue to build on her project management experience within the construction sector, she joined Thornton Firkin LLP, a construction consultancy in Lincoln and then went on to work as a Project Engineer at Viridis Building Services.

Today, Jasmine is a Project Coordinator at Gusto Construction and has recently completed her Level 5 Diploma in Collaboration in Construction.

Being a Project Coordinator

The role of a Project Coordinator is varied, but the three main pillars always remain the same: time, quality, and cost. No matter what the day brings, it’s all about making sure everything on site stays on schedule, on budget, and to the high standards Gusto Construction is known for.

But what does being a Project Coordinator look like day-to-day?

Jasmine’s Typical Day

  • Start of the day: Review site progress, upcoming design requirements, and any outstanding technical queries (RFIs).

  • Cross-team communication: Liaise with architects such as Studio G, engineers, and site teams to ensure everyone is working from the latest information.

  • Design coordination: Coordinate responses to design queries and ensure actions are closed out promptly.

  • On-site support: Visit sites to review progress, support the site team, and ensure the design intent is being delivered.

  • Project Alignment: Work closely with our commercial, technical, sales, and construction teams to keep projects aligned with programme milestones.

  • Finding Solutions: Help resolve design and construction challenges by bringing the right people together and finding practical solutions.

  • End of the day: Update action trackers, coordinate next steps, and prepare for upcoming project milestones.

Jasmine’s Career Highlights

Looking back over her career so far, Jasmine has a lot of achievements to show for her time across education and construction.

  • University Degree: Achieved a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with QTS.

  • Career Change: Successfully transitioned from education and youth work into project management and construction.
